We are advocates of natural physiological childbirth and we try to take into account the pregnant woman’s own plan for the childbirth as much as possible. The well-being of the foetus is monitored using up-to-date methods.

In the case of a natural childbirth, you can choose the position that feels the most comfortable for you and your baby. However, should the need arise, we have all the current means of operative obstetrics and intensive care. In the Maternity Department, we also perform both planned and emergency Caesarean sections, where the method of analgesia is chosen by a gynecologist together with an anaesthetist and the pregnant woman.

On average, one midwife looks after two pregnant women.

MATERNITY ROOMS AND POSTNATAL ROOMS

Pelgulinna Maternity Hospital has eight maternity rooms, seven of which have a bath for water births and for relieving labour pain.

FEE-CHARGING GYNAECOLOGIST’S SERVICE

It is possible to book an individual gynaecologist to be present at your childbirth.

FEE-CHARGING MIDWIFERY SERVICE

We offer an individual midwifery service with pregnancy monitoring starting from 34/35th week of pregnancy.

Laboratory analyses, ultrasound examinations, x-rays and other necessary tests are performed round-the-clock. Doctors and other specialists are also available for consultations 24 hours a day.

In the maternity room, we will do everything we can to ensure that you feel as much at home as possible. When you come to the hospital, you can bring your favourite music or some other items that will help you to concentrate on the world’s most important event in just the way you wish.

Unfortunately, candles are not allowed in the maternity room due to safety requirements, but it is possible to create cosy and warm light with the lighting system in the maternity room.
The person closest to you is very welcome to be present during the childbirth so that you can share this beautiful moment!
